This page is dedicated to reviewing every restuarant/cafe/bar?/food establishment that I visit. I will do my due diligence and try to remember to record the details at each place I go to but I'm not perfect. I'm just a f@g after all ^^.

Thoughts On The Food

The food at Mother Chu's is excellent. This was my first time going in a year, (I've been busy going to other places), and I was happy that the quality hasn't changed. The mince and rice dish is one of their cheapest items on the menu but that does not reflect the quality of the dish. The rice was perfectly cooked and the sauce was full of delicious pieces of fatty pork that held a lot of flavour. While not too big, it was filling for me and my tiny stomach.
The dumplings were delicious as well. They were well sized, not broken, (and due to being panfried), crispy. Paired with the soy sauce and black vinegar kept on the table, they were a great accompianment to the main dish. The apple sidra was a nice drink too but that is just a chinese canned beverage.

Thoughts on the Service and Atmosphere

The service at Mother Chu's is no nonsense to put it simply. You can either order at the table through a QR code, or go up to the counter and order, but the waitstaff will not take your order at the table. They bring the food to the table when it's ready and don't wait until the whole table's food is ready. While they may come off as unkind in this text perhaps, they are simply professionals and if you need help they'll help you.
The Atmosphere is vibrant. Located right at the mouth of Chinatown, Mother Chu's is always busy with customers and people walking by. There is always room though for you somewhere at a table, whether on the more comfortable inside chairs or on one of the outer stools. If I have any gripe it's that Mother Chu's is not the most comfortable place to be. The chairs are just not comfy. I enjoy a comfy chair so it's a problem for me and it makes me not want to go if I've had a busy day at work or TAFE.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I really like Mother Chu's. It's well located, well priced (to me), and most importantly, the food tastes really good. I can only speak for myself when I say I've had no food related illnesses from this place, but the kitchen looks clean and the seating area is mostly clean as well. If the chairs were more comfortable, it would be a 10/10 establishment, but they're not. It's a minor thing, but minor things contribute to larger issues. I will be coming back soon to eat here again.
