My Chungus Life Through Music
These are my My Favourite Bands
-
This is probably my favourite band at the moment, with Voyage Sans Retour as my favourite album of theirs (as of 7/11/24). I started listening to MM at the start of 2024 and instantly fell in love. I was already familiar with L'arc~en~Ciel and Gackt as a solo artist but MM introduced me to the wider Vkei scene.

Queen was the first band I properly got into, I think when I was about 13. It was the only band I listened to for about half a year before I finally decided that maybe other bands/artists were worth listening to as well. Freddy Mercury served as an outlet for my homosexual feelings I think before I really realised what I was, and definitely helped me be at ease with not being 'straight'. On a side note, fuck Roger Taylor and Brian May for milking Queen so much (Especially with that awful homophobic film they made), They really need to just let it rest.

L'arc~en~Ciel was the first Japanese band I got into, when I was about 14. My yr8&9 Japanese teacher showed our class GTO (Great Teacher Onizuka, which is an awesome show btw) and the first opening song for that show is 'Driver's High', by L'arc. Their music has always been a favorite of mine since, the '13 most clicked' compilation album especially. I hope one day I can see them live but I am doubtful of this.

System of a Down was first introduced to me when I was 12, by my (at the time) friend who was far more into heavy metal than I ever have been. At that age I didnt really take them seriously and just thought they were a funny band (due to songs like Cigaro). But as I grew and actually developed a mind I came to find them a profoundly awesome band that perfectly imbues their lyrics with nonbullshit politics. They're Armenian too, which is cool.
